HAPPY DOLLAR$$$$

  • Susan Priest had to cancel her European trip due to health issues and is scheduled for surgery on June 29 but HAPPY to have support from her Family, Church Family, and ROTARY FAMILY. We all support you Susan and know we ARE here for you and not just at lunch on Tuesday!
  • Mike Pecosh back from trip to NYC where he enjoyed a variety of ethnic foods but looks forward to lunch at Rotary. The TEST…Is it the Truth?? Glad you had a good trip MIKE and we look forward to you being with us on Tuesday!
  • Joe Piszczor happy for successful President’s Night and other community events such as the Liberty Pole ceremony and the event at the Bradford House over the weekend.
  • MaryJo Podgurski happy for Arts Night for her group….just another outstanding event done by MJP and her young people…we want to say kids but they really are not, they are mature, caring and respectful!
  • Bill Price is happy to wait and see what other Rotary rules/traditions will be broken or ignored in our new year however anyone who knows Bill realizes he is not one to ignore rules OR traditions.
  • Nan Sninsky announced intent to join the Club as Tripp has been after her to join and he reached out yet again…she couldn’t resist!
  • Tripp Kline gave $10 (happy to spend Hamilton) to recognize Pres. Joe for his 18 months of service as President and reminded everyone the Whiskey Festival will be in just 3 short weeks (like he would ever let us forget).
  • Rachel Lozosky enjoyed a beautiful evening at the U-2 Concert at Heinz Field while others were trying to get out of the way of the U-2 traffic.
  • Phil Rush how about THOSE PENS???? (YES)
  • Shirley Moore reported an incident of “domestic violence” in her kitchen (not involving Dave thankfully) but the microwave took out its anger on her potatoes and vegetables and caused a “fire”. The moral of the story: Don’t mess with SHIRLEY!!
  • Erin Jones happy to report the trip to London was not impacted by the violence and she was impressed as to how rapidly the Brits rebounded and moved on to a “normal” pace.
  • Phil Morrow hoped that when his granddaughter was born 18 years ago he would get to see her graduate….she did and is now headed to Penn State. Congratulations to your entire family Phil…it takes a family!
  • Karen Reese cannot believe this year is the 16th Annual Shamrock Invitational Golf Outing on June 23rd. Looking for support for “Joke a Hole” in honor of her Dad and his jokes but will also accept “Irish Auction” items.
  • Joe Manning was AT the U-2 Concert and happy to report is was a “quiet and reflective time”. Is it the TRUTH??? Mmm was he at the same Concert Rachel attended? Glad you enjoyed it Joe and HAPPY you arrived home safe/sound or at least safe!
  • Ken Baker happily promotes music/concerts for all to enjoy. This week Ken told us of a great upcoming FREE concert at Carnegie Music Hall, Willa Cather’s Iron City Music on June 15; Washington Jazz Society events on June 18, July 30, and August 27.  The Jazz Brunch is also held every Sunday at the President’s Pub.
  • Bob Hillberry happy to have attended the District Conference and announced that he and Sally just found out they will become “Great Grand Parents”. We have always known they were GREAT but now they have the title to go with it! Congratulations to the Hillberry Clan.
  • Tom Drewitz spoke of the great District Conference at the Summit Inn and encouraged ALL to attend at least a portion of next year’s conference at the Doubletree on Racetrack Road…No excuses now!
  • Erv and Paula Leppert had Happy but Sad dollar$$ as they are moving to Durham, NC and will be leaving our Club at the end of June. They are moving and we all know why, to be closer to their “kids” and rather than a 6.5hour trip they will be only 2-3 hours from each family. These are 2 outstanding members and they WILL BE MISSED!
  • Today was the “official” change-over with the new President Rich Podgurski recognizing out-going President Joe Piszczor for his extended tour of duty and service to the Club. President Rich also recognized the new officers and directors and recognized Past District Governors and Past Club Presidents who were in attendance today. Rich got the “new year” off to a good start.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Flag Ceremony at the Patriot’s Pavilion on June 15 at 2:30pm in conjunction with the Farmer’s Market. This was Past President Frank Marsh’s idea to honor our veterans and this is the 10th year.
  • Foundation Chairman Dave Hart distributed forms for “The Rotary Foundation Pledge”. See Dave if you want your $100 pledge given quarterly.
  • Remember Nat Roe in your thoughts and give him a call or send him a “cheery card” to help him work through this difficult time since the loss of his wife. Under the best of circumstances it is difficult to handle but in your 90s it is really difficult. NAT is one of our long standing members and is always there when you need his counsel.
  • The Olivia Scott Foundation and the Main Pavilion Fund have joined forces to sell lottery tickets for $20 with about $8000 doing to Rotary IF all tickets are sold. See ads in the O-R, purchase tickets and help to sell them. Thank you to Mark Scott for including Rotary in the fundraising effort….the sale of these tickets will HELP us reach our goal and will definitely help the Olivia Scott Foundation, so helpful to those families experiencing difficulty when a child is being treated for cancer. Once again we are all in this life together!!
