Joe Piszczor had a guest, Justin Danday the Director of Community Engagement for W&J and a future member.

Club Assembly

Meeting today was the monthly Club Assembly and the following matters were addressed
  1. Induction of a new member by PDG Tom Drewitz, John Quayle who was sponsored by Jim Uram. John spoke briefly about his activities in the community and is a lifelong resident of East Washington. Welcome to the Club John and we all look forward to a great lasting relationship/membership.
  2. President Rich gave an update on progress being made on the Park Pavilion. The financial obligations are being met and work on the roof is in progress. The weather has certainly helped the progress and for that all are grateful.
  3. Dictionary Project for 3rd graders will begin within the next 10 days with 692 dictionaries to be delivered. See Ellen Hough or contact her to check as some schools still need coverages. As of June, 20016 we had cumulative delivered 8,520 dictionaries throughout the years! Another job being done by Rotarians at Work. Sign up for the Dictionary Project! There are still spots open. Click Here!
  4. Service Award nominations are in and calculated. Nominees will be notified and presented their awards on October 31 in the Ballroom. You will note the date change due to the availability of the Ballroom.
  5. Aaron Wrubleski is leading our efforts to fund the District Governor’s water project. The Club officially joined the 999 Club and this funding will provide clean water in schools in Thailand. Home filters for families will have a different funding source and Aaron will be seeking individual donations to accomplish this. Stay tuned and the information will be available.
  6. President-Elect Bill Price spoke about the Rotary Club being approached to be the primary sponsor of the Christmas Parade and the Whiskey Rebellion Festival Parade. We were asked to consider this as a way to become more public in the community. If we are going to do this we will need volunteers to be on the committees that organize the parade. WHAT DO YOU THINK??? WE NEED FEEDBACK ASAP PLEASE EITHER EMAIL OR CALL BILL PRICE
  7. PDG Drewitz reports on posting volunteer hours on line (a must). These volunteer hours can be hospital hours, church committee hours, etc. This report is all important and reported to RI. Any questions  contact the  PDG Drewitz helpline.                                      If your service spans several days, just pick a date and explain in the "Enter the name or description of the activity section. Click on the pic!
  8. Actions of the Board of Directors
  1. Meeting of December 26 and January 2 will be cancelled due to the Holiday. The Christmas gathering is being planned for December 19, details will be released later.
  2. Major Club donations approved as f $1500 to the Farmer’s Market; $1500 to the Whiskey Rebellion Festival; $500 to Washington’s Got Talent. Other donations and requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
  3. School supplies project agreed to increase funds collected up to $500. Teachers of the 4th Grade classes will be given a check to purchase what they feel to be important. It is requested these teachers provide receipts for the purchases that will then give us an idea for possible future projects with the schools.
  1. Other dates of interest
  1. Road side cleanup on October 14.
  2. Rotary Awards Luncheon in the Ballroom October 31
  3. InterClub Service Luncheon Event November 14 in the Ballroom; Rotary is NOT the host Club and just needs to attend
  4. Foundation Celebration on November 17, 2017 at California University of PA Convocation Center; Sustaining Rotarian tickets are $75. Materials for this event will be distributed and you may register on-line.
  5. Greater details will be available and it seems as though this event will be a great opportunity to visit the new Convocation Center…this writer knows the school has changed drastically since he attended!
We used to have a bus take memebrs to the Foundation Celebration!
Make an effort to attend a special DISTRICT event.
It's easy and fun!

This is YOUR Club, get involved to help the Club and make it a better experience for everyone along with helping to better serve your community. IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED???? Let’s work to make it that way!
